Accu-Chek® Diabetes Therapy Management Tutorial

Diabetes Therapy Management:  making sense of patterns and graphs

In this 9 minutes video tutorial, Dr Tony Hulse, Consultant Endocrinologist at St. Thomas’s Hospital demonstrates how simple graphs displayed on colourful and easy-to-understand charts improve the value of blood glucose information. Dr Hulse explains how to identify the three glycaemic abnormalities from a pattern as a first step so that you can decide on the appropriate therapy management or lifestyle adjustment.

This tutorial concentrates on how to arrive at the ‘glycaemic abnormalities’ in Step 1.

Pattern Management is a systemic, 4-step approach to identify glycaemic patterns.

Step 1: Identify the glycaemic abnormality:

                Priority 1: Hypoglycaemia

                Priority 2: Fasting hyperglycaemia

                Priority 3: Postprandial hyperglycaemia

Step 2: Determine the timing and frequency of the occurrence

Step 3: Investigate potential causes

Step 4: Take action
